This tool is essential for anyone working on copper cabling for telecom and computer networks. In addition to detecting and tracing copper pairs, this kit provides polarity detection, telephone line condition checking, telephone line identification, and continuity testing.
It comes with a tone generator and amplifier probe. The tone generator has an external 3-position switch to select the operating mode and a 3-colour LED to indicate line polarity, continuity and voltage test. An internal switch located in the equipment makes it possible to choose between a continuous tone or an alternating tone.
The tone is audible and visible respectively thanks to the loudspeaker and the LED placed on the amplifier probe. The wire on which the tone is generated is the one with the strongest tone. The volume is adjustable for better wire identification and to avoid crosstalk with other wires. The volume can be turned off completely to prevent battery consumption.
